Need help setting up your PS3 to work with HDMI cables?

Connect your PS3 to a TV using the standard cables A/V cables included with the PS3 along with your new HDMI cable.
In your PS3's XMB go to Display Settings
Select Video Output Settings.
Select HDMI
You will now be informed that you have 30 seconds to test the HDMI output. Select Change and switch to your TVs HDMI input.
If you are able to see the confirmation screen on the HDMI input of your TV accept the change. Otherwise, wait 30 seconds for the PS3 to return to using the A/V inputs.
Now that the PS3 is connected via HDMI you will need to adjust the resolution settings so that they best match your TV.

Need help setting up a generic HDMI device?

Connect one end of the HDMI cable to your TV and the other end to your output device (HD-DVD player, Blu-Ray Player, etc).
Turn on your TV as well as your output device.
Make sure you have your TV set to use the HDMI input.
If you do not see the video from your HDMI device on your TV, you may need to connect your TV to your HDMI device using standard A/V cables and then go through the configuration menus on your HDMI device and set it to use its HDMI output.
To get the best quality output to your TV, you may wish to determine the maximum resolution that your HDMI device and TV may both select (e.g. 720i, 720p, 1080i, 1080p). Once you determine the best compatible resolution you may need to set both your HDMI device and your TV to use this resolution.
